Rang Mahal - the item epitomizes the grandeur and lavish lifestyles of the Indian Maharajahs. Traditionally, Rang Mahal was the pleasure house and banqueting room of the Maharajahs, specially decorated with intricate mirror work and the choicest paintings. The general decor was also interspersed with intricate 'Zharonkas' or windows. The Maharajahs used to come down to Rang Mahal to wear off their royal worries, amid the best of Indian cuisines, wines and music.
Located at the hotel's poolside, da Vinci is reminiscent of a Tuscan farmhouse, with terracotta floor tiles, cream coloured walls, and a beamed ceiling. Reproductions of artworks by Leonardo da Vinci adorn the walls, while the windows on one side of the restaurant look out over the swimming pool, adding a brightness by day and a more romantic atmosphere by night, when the lighting is low and intimate. da Vinci
da Vinci's menu tends to wards traditional Italian cooking, very much the style you would find in a homely restaurant in a Tuscan village. Only the best and the freshest ingredients are used, the chefs make their own pasta, and many of the excellent quality Italian herbs that are now being grown at the Royal Projects in the North of Thailand are included in the recipes.
To complement the food there is a well-assembled list of white and red Italian wines from the main producing regions, and a selection of grappas. Red Pepper The Contemporary Thai Dining

Reviews
The hotel is okay considering the reasonable price of the room. It is strategically located so you don't get caught much in traffic. Breakfast is good although not a very wide variety.

A really good hotel, nicely decorated, with friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. The pool is only good if you want to stare at huge building blocks. Very nice restaurants near by and very convenient for Skytrain. However, when my partner got ill, and we had to extent our stay for two nights, they made a mistake [one receptionist happened to speak poor English and told me to comfirm the price for the room with the tour operator of the hotel rather than make reservations through them] in telling us that the rate we were paying would remain the same. Upon check out time, they charged us twice!!, REALISED they had made a mistake and refused to do anything about it!!!! I was dismayed - espeically given that the hotel was pretty much empty. The manager was inflexible and rude to say the least. Plus, the doctor's visit [two minutes, one hour after we called] was much more expensive than a doctor's visit here in Belgium. Would I stay there again? No.

The hotel has a pretty good location on Sukhumwit Soi 18. This Soi is pretty quiet compared to all the cars that are driving on Sukhumwit. We only used like 5-10 minutes to walk over to the Asok Skytrain station and from there it is easy to get around.
I'm from Norway and when I travel I speak Norwegian to my wife and hardly no one can understand what we are saying :-) Well, this is not the case at the Rembrandt because a lot of Scandinavians seem to use this hotel. I think even SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) use this as a crew hotel. You can even see this at the tailor store outside where they have posters in Danish and Swedish and even posters of the royal families from these countries. I didn't see any pictures of the Norwegian royal family :-)
One thing that we found facinating at the hotel was the elevators. First of all they came very fast when you pressed the button and they moved very fast to the floor that you wanted to go to. And on the loudspeakers they had sounds of birds! So we would often look at each other and go "what is that noise?" And it turned out to just be the on-board entertainment.
We enjoyed breakfast at the hotel on most mornings. It was included in the price and I could get more or less everything that I wanted (bread, fruit, cerial, egg, warm dishes and so on). And the hotel has a few restaurants. We tried the Thai restaurant and the Indian restaurant. Both were OK I guess but I prefer to eat outside of the hotel.
The rooms (we stayed there twice) were good and we had a lot of different TV channels. We played around for a while to find out how the safety deposit box worked but in the end we found out that we just had to slam it shut :-) We tried to call the front desk a couple of times to get some information about how to operate it but we didn't get much details. Apart from this I don't feel that there is a whole lot to say about a hotel room. The room included a bed, a little table with two chairs, a desk and the possibility to make instant coffee/tea (I never use this so I never really take a closer look at it).
In some of the hallways there were phones (maybe meant for the maids?) and they kept ringing and it was a bit annoying at times.
