One excellent place to start getting to know Bangkok is the Sukhumvit Road area. This commercial, entertainment and shopping district is a quick drive on the expressway from the airport.

Each City Lodge operates its own restaurant, Pasta 'n Noodles in Soi 9 and La Gritta Italian Restaurant in Soi 19. Both popular venues are managed by the Amari Boulevard Hotel.
Pasta n' Noodles
Pasta n' Noodles, found on Sukhumvit Soi 9, offers a refreshing change to the East - West fusion concept. Here you get to pick and choose which Asian noodles or Italian pasta you want to combine with which Thai, Chinese or Italian topping.

It is hard to believe that someone who stay here will actually come back. The rooms are very noisy, don't try to open the window, you can actually jump from it directly to the skytrain...
the rooms are too small, the breakfast is very poor and overall even if you pay half of it's price, I think it will be still too expensive for what you are getting there.
